The vast majority of families our athletes come from are low-income earners who can’t afford healthy eating for their households and the athlete of the family, or who can’t afford it on a consistent basis. Also, apart from generating poor performances, eating unhealthy for athletes can eventually trigger afflictions like stress, type-2 diabetes, and increase the risk of heart disease, etc. The Good Food, Good Performance (GFGP) initiative is a small-scale animal and plant farming venture that specializes in producing, processing and delivering fresh food for both ADISA’s athletes and for commercial purposes as well.
In the world of competitive sports, healthier eating is paramount. In Cameroon, homegrown food is the cheapest way to enable healthier eating which is always crucial for athletes as it directly impacts performance and overall health, by providing the right nutrients at the right levels to meet the appropriate energy requirements.
