Safeguarding

The purpose of our safeguarding policies and associated procedures is to provide clarity to ALL on how they should engage with the children, youths and adults we come into contact with (either directly or indirectly) in all our RTCs and at all our activities outside our RTCs in order to ensure that they are safeguarded, have their wellbeing promoted, and that our actions do not result in their harm, discrimination, abuse or exploitation. Our safeguarding policies help regulate our work by offering a common understanding of safeguarding issues, enabling us develop good practice across different areas in which we operate and thereby increase accountability in our work.

POLICY STATEMENT

ADISA has zero tolerance against abuse and exploitation of vulnerable people. ADISA recognises that everyone has an equal right to protection from abuse and exploitation and also that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We ensure that the application of our safeguarding policies and procedures means children, young people and adults are kept safe from those who might pose a risk.

 OUR STAFF

Safeguarding is everyone’s business and all staff have a responsibility to share emerging and visible concerns for the safety and well-being of others. We are reflective in our attitudes, and strive to continually develop systems to ensure that the needs of the most vulnerable are considered and that there are safe spaces for their voices to be heard.

STAFF WORKING WITH CHILDREN OR ADULTS

ADISA is committed to providing a safe environment for children and adults and one way we do this is by ensuring that all staff:

  • Understand and commit to our shared organisational philosophy and vision on safeguarding children and adults at risk
  • Are vetted and participate in role appropriate checks as part of our safer recruitment processes
  • Receive role appropriate safeguarding training to enhance their competency and knowledge on safeguarding matters to inform their engagement with children or adults at risk.
  • Set expectations of behaviour for activities that include respect and anti-discriminatory/anti-bullying messages.

IF YOU HAVE A CONCERN…

Abuse can happen anywhere – in the home, the training center, a public place, even in a hospital. If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a child or adult at risk on one of our activities or at any one of our RTCs, or any child or adult enrolled into any of our programs or activities, please take immediate action by sending an email to safeguarding@africadreamisa.com
